What is Jetpack Joyride?

Jetpack Joyride is a game by Halfbrick Studios and a third in a series. You play as a person named Barry Streakfries and you steal a jetpack from a top secret laboratory. Jetpack Joyride is available on iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Android devices. You can also now play this game on Facebook and Windows 8.

The game is considered a runner game where you run as far as you can while avoiding missiles, lasers, and other obstacles. The game has goals you must meet to level up also. Coins can be collected to get new gear and special abilities.

You can 'recruit' the help of some rides that can help you in your objectives and even collect coins.

  • Profit Bird: A red bird with a big mouth that ejects banknotes as you fly.
  • Bad as Hog: You ride a motorcycle, go super fast. and shoot scientists.
  • Mr. Cuddles: You ride a pretty awesome dragon. You also have fire breath.
  • Gravity Suit: You can run on the ceiling - cause gravity!
  • Crazy Freaking Teleporter: It's crazy. My tactic is just spam pushing and teleport everywhere.
  • Lil' Stomper: You get to ride in a mecha and stomp over scientists. Also, it can fly (for short periods of time).

Profit Bird in all its glory. My Profit Bird also has the magnet upgrade that allows me to collect coins within a certain distance.

Jetpack Joyride Review

So, now that I've gotten done with talking what this game is about, let me warn you right now. Do not get this game if you do not want to be addicted. To start, it is totally free. That is what initially won me over into getting the game. My friends were talking about this game and I finally caved after I was told I could get it free. I figured if I didn't like it, I could just simply delete it.

The objectives are what keeps the game exciting and keeps you playing. Of course, as most games are, the missions are limited. I thought my time with Jetpack Joyride was coming to a sad end when I noticed no more missions popping up, but guess what? You get to start over in missions! Not only that, you keep your level and all your upgrades. You can keep leveling up to your hearts content. Just ask my boyfriend, he's level 100.

To those who think they wouldn't like the game or those who think they won't get addicted, let me tell you a story. I first got Jetpack Joyride last month, early November. I was immediately addicted and played it CONSTANTLY. I played it whenever my boyfriend was over and he would just roll his eyes at me. Well, eventually I stopped playing it because it seemed like he wasn't enjoying the fact that Jetpack Joyride was getting between us. Then, quite recently, we were lying in bed and suddenly he just opened it up in my phone and started playing it. He was immediately hooked. He played it all day and then got it for his phone. This was maybe two weeks ago and he's already level 100. I'm only level 28 and have had the game for a month.

Jetpack Joyride offers a lot of customization of your character and your jetpack! I'm using a rainbow jetpack.

Recommendations for Jetpack Joyride

I would definitely recommend this game. It's a mindless game and you could easily spend hours on it. If you aren't sure about it, go ahead and just try it out. Remember, it's free. If you do decide you want to go ahead and get it, be warned, it will consume your life. Jetpack Joyride could easily be the best application out there.

This game is perfect to keep on your phone in case you find yourself waiting in a waiting room or if you just want to pass some time.

What do you think of Jetpack Joyride? What do you like most about it? Anything you hate about it?
